How to spot and address necessary roof repairs
The best way to ensure that your home's roof last a long time is to regularly check it for damage, wear and tear and any other issues that might crop up. It is no secret that Florida weather is hard on roofs.
When we think about roof damage in Florida, it's easy to picture whole roofing systems being blown off of houses by gale force winds OR huge trees falling on top of your home and destroying half of the roof. And, it's true, these things do happen. However, more commonly, things like excessive temperatures, and mold and mildew are big culprits of roof damage and structural damage to your home.
That's why it is SO important to keep up with regular maintenance on your roof. A few broken shingles may seem unimportant, but they can become huge problems down the road if not addressed in a timely manner. Staying on top of leaks, wall cracks, insect infestations and standing water can greatly increase the longevity of your home's roof.
Here's some important things to look out for when considering whether your roof needs immediate repairs or maintenance:
1. Is there water inside your home in unusual places?
2. Do you have any walls with cracks on them from the ceiling?
3. Are you staying on top of pest control in your home?
4. Are your gutters installed and draining properly?
5. Are missing shingles or tiles or other noticeable damage on your roof going unaddressed?
A yes answer to any of these things is a good sign that you could have a larger problem down the road without professional roof repairs. Not sure if you have roof damage? Give us a call, and we will come on out and check. It is always better safe than sorry in the roofing business.
